Founded in 1872, the prestigious Mizuno Forge crafts Japanese swords and kitchen knives.
Its masterpieces included the forging of the "evil-warding sickle" adorning the four sides of the Nine-Tiered Pagoda at Horyuji Temple, a National Treasure; the swords for champions of the All-Japan Student Sumo Championships; and the development of the indispensable "fugu-hiki knife."
