Mining location: Ehime Prefecture

During the long history of Iyo Toishi, there were several roads used to transport stone from Mt. Toishi to the port.

There is currently a mountain pass called the Nanaori area.

The name Nanaori is likely derived from the winding mountain pass road.

Plum cultivation is popular here, and the plums grown in the Nanaori area are called Nanaori Koume.

Along the road where Iyo whetstones, a specialty of Tobe Town, were once transported, a small plum tree stretches its branches and leaves.

The Iyo name stone "Koume" is a whetstone with a blossoming pattern that resembles a plum branch due to the cracks that run along the surface of the stone.

The whetstones are classified as "white whetstones" and are the highest quality whetstones from the whetstone mountains that were mined in the past.

It has a similar sharpening feel, but the grit size is often finer.
